Foot of the Month 2016

8 November: Tuesday—Club Day

ft-34

Reverse pattern foot with clear sole # 34 affords a clear view of the needle and stitching area. The red markings on the top of the presser foot allow for especially precise and careful sewing.
A versatile, all purpose foot, Reverse pattern foot with clear sole # 34 is suitable for many forward and reverse-feed utility and decorative stitches, and is often used in general sewing projects, whether large or small.

ft-35

Invisible-zipper foot # 35 is ideal for inserting zippers invisibly into garment seams. In addition, this presser foot is a reliable helper when sewing home furnishings and accessories.
Two diagonal grooves act as a guide, making zip insertion a breeze compared to the standard method. Located in the sole of the foot, the grooves easily accommodate the zipper coils, which are fed through at the same time as the zipper tape is guided under the foot and sewn.

ft-37

Because it’s designed for straight-stitching, Patchwork foot # 37 is ideal for sewing 1/4” or 1/8” (approx. 3 or 6 mm) seam allowances.

In addition, Patchwork foot # 37 features three evenly spaced markings (1/4” apart) on it’s side that make the square insertion of pieces in patchworking easier. A narrow groove under the flat sole serves as a thread channel for smoother piecing.

TIP: a large sewing table or cabinet makes quilt piecing easier and promotes greater precision as it supports your patchwork better.

4 October: Tuesday—Club Day

3-Groove pintuck foot # 30 is a versatile presser foot for sewing attractive pintucks in combination with a 4 mm double needle. It is also ideal for sewing mini-piping, as well as for elastic gathering and the couching of braids and trim.

3-Groove pintuck foot # 30 is used when working with thick, heavy fabrics such as denim, suit-weight linen or home furnishings. The grooves on pintuck foot # 30 let you stitch even, neat parallel tucks.

The practical cutout in the center of the foot affords a good view of the stitching area, letting you keep perfect track of everything while sewing.

ft-31

5-Groove pintuck foot # 31 ist specially suited to sewing even pintucks on medium weight fabric.

For sewing pintucks, you’ll need a double needle with a width between the two needles corresponding to the width of the grooves on the foot (up to 3mm).

This way the finished tucks will be the matched in size to the grooves in the pintuck foot. When sewing several parallel pintucks, these grooves ensure an even distance between rows. The generous cutout in the center of 5-Groove pintuck foot # 31 ensures a good view of the area to be sewn.

The pintuck foot is also ideal for sewing  braids, trim, and mini-piping, as well as for elastic gathering. Discover 5-

7-Groove pintuck foot # 32 is a specialist for sewing especially fine pintucks on light to medium weight fabrics using a double needle. The typical pintuck shape is produced by the bobbin thread, which pulls together the two lines of stitching as you sew.

The grooves in the sole of the pintuck foot act as a guide for stitching several perfectly parallel pintucks. The cutout in the center of the foot provides an unimpeded view of the needle-penetration area and facilitates working with this foot.

The pintuck foot is also highly suitable for smocking and entredeux work, as well as fagotting.

ft-33

9-Groove pintuck foot # 33 is especially suitable for lightweight fabrics such as batiste. When sewing pintucks, it is used with a double needle.

The grooves in the sole of the foot help you stitch perfectly parallel pintucks. The finished pintucks lend a lovely texture to the fabric, and can also be embellished with decorative stitches – letting you create attractive garments and home furnishings.

9-Groove pintuck foot # 33 is also ideal for smocking, entredeux or fagotting.

ft-46

Pintuck and decorative-stitch foot with clear sole # 46C makes it a breeze to sew fetching pintucks and then embellish them evenly.

The clear sole provides a perfect view of the stitching area at all times. The pintucks are sewn first, with the finished pintucks lying in the grooves on the bottom of the foot. In a second step, the Pintuck and decorative stitch foot with clear sole # 46C is used to embellish the pintucks with precisely parallel lines of stitching – so there’s no need to trace the lines beforehand.

6 September: Tuesday—Club Day

ft-24

Free-motion embroidery foot # 24 offers a whole range of advantages. Not only does it afford an optimal view of the stitching area – particularly advantageous when stitching along marked lines – its vertical spring-loaded (hopper) mechanism prevents the fabric from pulling up with the needle (flagging) when embroidering, thereby ensuring precise stitch formation.

Free-motion embroidery foot # 24 lets you successfully accomplish a host of embroidery techniques: with monograms, silk ribbon or Richelieu embroidery, thread painting, and even quilting, its clever design ensures first-class sewing success and ease.

ft-26

Thanks to its special design, Embroidery foot # 26 (drop-shaped) is the expert when it comes to optimum fabric grip and attractive embroidery results.

The design of the sole as well as the teardrop-shaped needle opening  provide for a secure grip, reducing the risk of damaging the upper thread. In addition, Embroidery foot # 26 features a vertical spring (hopper) which presses on the fabric when the needle is lifted, thereby preventing flagging. Foot # 26 is a free-motion presser foot which is ideal both for embroidering and executing free-motion sewing techniques with the machine. Furthermore, Embroidery foot # 26 (drop-shaped) can also be used to darn delicate fabrics.

ft-29

Quilting foot # 29 is a special presser foot for easy free-motion, outline and stipple quilting.

The vertical spring presses the foot securely to your project, preventing the fabric from riding up with the needle (flagging). The material therefore lies flat while it is being sewn, allowing you to produce neat, consistent stitches. For even greater sewing ease, Quilting foot # 29 features a clear sole, affording you a perfect view of both needle and stitching area at all times.

2 August: Tuesday—Club Day

Braiding foot # 21 makes quick work of couching thin ribbons, cords and rickrack, and is also ideal for projects with passementerie, braids and couched-cord patterns.

Braiding foot # 21’s beveled hole for cords and yarns up to 3 mm in diameter ensures neat, even couching. The result: high-quality, attractive sewing projects.

Ft 21

3-Groove cording foot # 22 is ideal for the simultaneous couching of several yarns, woolen thread or cording, producing a decorative trim or braid effect on garments and home furnishings in no time flat.

The swing-out latch on top of 3-Groove cording foot # 22 holds the yarn or cords securely in place and prevents them from tangling during the sewing process. The result is a neat, consistently stitched braid-like embellishment.

Ft 22

When it comes to appliquéing with a narrow satin-stitch (up to 2 mm), Appliqué foot # 23 is the expert: its sophisticated design allows the fabric to feed easily over the stitches, even in the case of very dense rows of stitching.

A cutout on the front of the presser foot will hold a narrow couching thread, making for trouble-free sewing of satin-stitching with cording. With its wide thread channel under the sole,  Appliqué foot # 23 is also ideal for sewing mini-piping, or for traditional sewing techniques.

And since Appliqué foot # 23 features a clear sole, you’ll have a perfect view of the stitch area at all times – a decisive advantage, especially when following outlines and corners.

Ft 23

The 5-Groove cording foot is a practical aid for the simultaneous couching of several parallel strands of yarn or cording.

The cords are fed into the special grooves, which guide them securely. They are also held in place by a swing-out latch which prevents them tangling during the sewing process.

In this way, the 5-Groove cording foot lets you create glamorous trim appliqués and braid for home furnishings and garments.

5 July: Tuesday—Club Day

Gathering foot # 16 is suitable for gathering lightweight-to-medium weight  fabrics. The fabric is gathered automatically while being sewn.

What’s more, the special indentation in the sole of Gathering foot # 16 allows you to sew the material being gathered to a flat piece of fabric in a single operation. For this, the flat material is slipped into the indentation so that it isn’t gathered at the same time.

Gathering foot # 16 is available in two different widths. The wider version is designed for use with sewing machines with a stitch width of up to 9 mm.

Ft 16

Button-sew-on foot # 18 is an all-rounder for sewing on buttons, snap fasteners and eyelets. Its non-slip sole holds the button securely in place while it is sewn on.

In addition, Button-sew-on foot # 18 has an adjustable middle toe,  allowing you to vary the height of the thread shank according to fabric thickness. The middle toe can be flipped up and away when not in use.

In addition to buttons and closures, Button-sew-on foot # 18 allows you to attach decorative embellishments such as sequins or bows.

Ft 18

Open embroidery foot # 20 is a specialist when it comes to embroidering with your sewing machine. This foot is ideally suited to Richelieu and circular embroidery, as well as to following lines and patterns.

The wide opening at the front of the foot affords a clear view of the stitching area, while the wide wedge-shaped channel under the sole of the foot ensures perfect fabric feed even over dense stitch formations.

The Open embroidery foot is also available with a special non-stick sole (#56) for use with “sticky” fabrics. What’s more, the design of Open embroidery foot # 20 makes it ideal for sewing on trims and creating attractive appliqués.
